Island Delight Sponsors New Theatre Company

Island Delight Sponsors New Theatre Company ‘Jumprov’

As a community-minded business, we’re always looking for ways to be involved in new initiatives, so when we were approached to sponsor Jumprov – a brand-new theatre company with an entire cast of black, Asian and mixed-race artistes – we were more than interested!

Jumprov is the brainchild of founder and performer Sunny Dhap, who noticed whilst attending the Birmingham Improv Festival, that the artistic balance didn’t represent our diverse city. So he decided to put together his own improve theatre company, to help tackle the  continuing issue of under representation in theatre, TV & film.

And after many months of recruiting and rehearsals, they have their first date! The company’s first-ever show will be at The Old Joint Stock Theatre in Birmingham – a wonderful venue which itself has a rich and diverse background in banking, before it was turned into one of the city’s most unique theatres.

The Old Joint Stock

This 95-seater venue is intimate and warm – the perfect place to launch a venture like Jumprov – which will feature classic improve games with the Jumprov twist. We’re very much looking forward to seeing this talented group of people getting the city rocking with fun and laughter, and if you’d like to attend too – the debut show is on Thursday 4th May at 8pm.

Director Sunny says;  “Jumprov has created a platform for stories to be told with characters that are free from everyday stereotypes, prejudices faced while living in society and working in this industry. Jumprov also gives a voice and collaborative creative control to the performers and audiences.  We’d encourage anyone to take alook at our Facebook page for updates.” https://www.facebook.com/Jumprov/

Tickets are available on the Jumprov website www.jumprov.com  (£10 plus booking fee)
