50 Years of Jamaican Independence celebrated with 50 Inch Pattie World Record Attempt

The Hon. Anthony Hylton, Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce in the Cabinet Office for the Government of Jamaica, is welcomed as we create and bake a 50 inch Island Delight Pattie in celebration of Jamaica’s 50th Anniversary of Independence (6th Aug.1962 – 6th Aug. 2012).

Cleone Foods have been producing authentic recipe Jamaican patties since 1989 will, once cooked, donate the extra-large Island Delight pattie to a local Handsworth hostel via the Birmingham Central Foodbank.

Cleone Foods MD, Wade Lyn, commented:

“We are delighted to support a local charity and to welcome the Minister as we attempt to bake a World Record Breaking Island Delight Pattie, creating the largest ever pattie made in celebration of Jamaica’s independence!”

The Minister will also open the ‘Jamaica in the Square’ event in Birmingham. Therefore, Cleone Foods will be taking part the following day. The event is running from Thursday 2nd to Monday 6th August. After that, the final day will a flag raising ceremony in Birmingham’s Victoria Square. As well as, in Walsall, Wolverhampton and other major cities. This is simultaneously joining in with the Jamaican High Commission Flag Raising event. Which is held at the O2 Arena in London.
