Birmingham’s Pattie King receives Local Hero award

Honoured with the “Local hero” award

Well known Birmingham Businessman Wade Lyn was honoured with the “Local hero” award at the Annual Gala Dinner for the Association of Jamaican Nationals, held at Aston Villa’s Holte Banqueting Suite on October 15th, 2011.

The Birmingham based association was formed in 1990 with the aim of enhancing, promoting and assisting the Jamaican community throughout the UK, especially by enabling contact for its membership with Local and National government departments. The Association, which recently achieved registered Charity status, played a significant role in helping Birmingham City Council secure the deal for the 2012 Jamaica Olympic team to use Birmingham as their base.

Wade is the owner and managing director of Hockley based Cleone Foods Limited, best known as the manufacturers of the nationally renowned “Island Delight” range of Jamaican patties. He also holds several local directorships, is a Warden of the Birmingham assay office and was recently selected to serve on the board of the newly formed Birmingham Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).

Wade said “I will treasure this award for the future, it is always rewarding to receive recognition for your achievements, but it is especially valuable when from your friends and peers in your own local area.”
