MPs enjoy taste of the Caribbean
Birmingham-based Caribbean food company Cleone Foods
brought a taste of the Caribbean to MPs, dignitaries and celebrities
at a special event held in the Houses of Parliament this month.
Wade Lyn, managing director of Cleone Foods was invited to provide an authentic Caribbean menu for the special event organised by Diane Abbott MP. The traditional menu included a selection of Island Delight’s famous Caribbean patties as well as the soon to be launched jerk chicken and jerk pork range.
Wade Lyn said: “It is a real honour to be invited to provide the food for such a significant event and for so many important people. I am pleased to say that everyone enjoyed the food and even the curry goat went down very well.
“This was an ideal opportunity to try out our new jerk pork and jerk chicken dishes which will be launching in to UK supermarkets before the end of the year.”
Also present at the event was Lord Bill Morris, Britain’s first
black general secretary of the Transport and General Workers' Union,
and His Excellency the Honourable Burchell Whiteman, O. J., Jamaican
High Commissioner to the United Kingdom
The special event was arranged by Diane Abbott as a networking opportunity and is an annual event. Island Delight sponsored the event and provided all the food.
