Handsworth Cricket Club Gain Our Sponsorship

Over the years, Island Delight has been involved in many community projects, as people, community and family are at the heart of Caribbean culture.

In December last year, we donated Christmas boxes to the homeless charity St Basil’s. Then in May, we sponsored Jumprov the black, Asian and mixed race theatre company. And now – we’re at it again, becoming involved with Handsworth Cricket club in Birmingham.

When looking for projects to sponsor, it’s ideal if there’s an affinity between the two parties. So when we were invited to lend a helping hand, we couldn’t have been happier!

Long-Established Club

This cricket club in Birmingham has been established since 1974 – one of the only remaining historic Caribbean multi-cultural clubs in the West Midlands. It has a vibrant membership of over 250, with 6 youth teams (including over 70 young people ranging from 7 – 18 years old), and three men’s teams.

The club has a vibrant presence, and clubhouse which attracts in plenty of people, for match-day support and social gatherings. This all sounded ideal to us, as it’s an opportunity to introduce even more people to our authentic Jamaican patties.

So this summer, we’re looking forward to seeing our Island Delight logo on the team’s kits. And if anyone by chance misses these, there will also be a fence banner displaying our logo and contact details. After all – our food is too good to miss, so we want to give everyone a chance to discover its authentic Caribbean taste. And helping Handsworth Cricket Club at the same time, seems like a match made in heaven!

Why not check out what our products? We have Frozen, shortcrust and flaky patties! Also, enjoyed this blog post? Check out our other blogs on What Is Caribbean Salt Fish? or Island Delight Sponsors New Theatre Company.
