Open Day of New Birmingham Youth Centre

Island Delight sponsors Open Day of New Birmingham Youth Centre

On 25th May 2015 we were honoured to sponsor and provide a range of our fantastic patties at an open day for one of Birmingham’s newest youth projects. One of the newest centres in the city, CRIB opened its doors to the community and invited in representatives of the community including our very own Wade Lyn.

Representing Cleone Foods and showing off some of our great range of patties, Wade had the chance to support a local not-for-profit enterprise which is committed to providing something for the youth of the local community.

The open day at CRIB was a huge success and many local businesses attended alongside us, including Khass Community Arts, Ace Fitness and The Hair and Beauty Mall. There were stalls and stands throughout the event and we took the opportunity to offer up a mixed range of our products, including samples of all our flavours: Jerk Chicken, Beef, Lamb, Vegetable and Salt Fish. The open day attracted the attention of the whole community and plenty of young people, who the centre is for and once the stalls had packed up and the main event was over, plenty of the younger guests stuck around for a game of rounders and kept things alive until 9pm at night.

CRIB is hoping to hold many more exciting and energising events to show what their centre has to offer and attract more people through their doors.

The CRIB Centre is designed to provide the young people (16-25 age group) of inner-city Birmingham with many opportunities including socialising, assistance with life skills and obtaining information about many key issues including debt, unemployment and housing.

Island Delight and the Local Community

Our CEO Wade Lyn has expressed his commitment to the local community and a business approach which incorporates the community on many occasions. In his own words he has stated how important it is for businesspeople to ‘take their community responsibilities seriously’ and centres such as CRIB offer the community so much in terms of added value and giving younger people the support and guidance they require.

As a company Cleone Foods are proud to consistently support the local community as can be seen with our support of the Boys’ Brigade late last year and we are always interested in working alongside local community projects and charities in any way we can.

We also look forward to seeing how CRIB helps the young people of Birmingham in the coming months and years.
